Two people have died in a house fire that broke out in the early morning at Yio Chu Kang and six others injured.
According to a statement, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to a fire at 6A Parry Avenue at about 3am. Firefighters arrived at 3.08am to find the double-story house engulfed in flames and burning through the roof. It took 30 minutes to put the under control. Firefighters used 6 water jets to extinguish it by 4.30am.
Firefighters found two bodies on the second floor of the house. Six of the residents escaped the house, while firefighters helped another two to flee.
In total, 5 of the residents had to be sent to Singapore General Hospital for treatment while one firefighter was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for heat exhaustion.
SCDF said that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
