As we stay home during this ‘Circuit Breaker’ period, many of us are reaching out for our FoodPanda or GrabFood apps more frequently.
Knowing that food delivery riders are probably swamped with orders, a Yishun hawker decided to treat the hardworking individuals to grass jelly drinks.
His small act of kindness will certainly motivate our food delivery staff in this critical time.
A soya bean and jelly stall owner recently started an initiative to thank our food deliverers for their frontline efforts, stated a Facebook post by Chong Pang City Yishun on Tuesday (14 Apr).
The hawker has been generously putting out a box of ice cold grass jelly for riders to take as they please.
Food delivery riders can look forward to getting a free drink outside the store from Monday to Friday until 3pm.
Though there are limited stocks every day, this grass jelly treat is set to last until 4 May.
The drinks are absolutely free, as the hawker hasn’t set any purchase requirements. Riders can simply grab a drink from the box outside the stall.
A sign on the front of the Styrofoam box expresses the hawker’s gratitude towards the riders for their hard work.
We’re sure they’ll appreciate the thirst-quenching treat and heartwarming gesture.
Incidentally, this Yishun hawker is not the only eatery introducing such benefits for riders.
In fact, many owners are banding together to show support for them during this tough period.
Their gestures certainly bring about some positivity amidst the current predicament, embodying what it means to be #SGUnited.
For riders who wish to enjoy the free drinks, you can find the stall at #01-136 Chong Pang City Wet Market & Food Centre, 105 Yishun Ring Rd, Singapore 760105.
As demands for food delivery surge, restaurants might take longer to prepare the food.
With more orders to deliver, our riders may probably need more time than usual to do their work.
On our part, we can try to be more compassionate when orders take longer to arrive.
Like this Yishun hawker, maybe we can put out a chilled packet of drink for our GrabFood rider to show our appreciation as well.
