Abandoned Dog Locked In Outdoor Cage At S’pore Industrial Area, Volunteers Seek Help To Save It

Dog In Locked Cage Left Outdoors At The Risk Of Getting Heatstroke

Singapore seems to have been no stranger to stories of animal cruelty lately.

The latest in a spate of such heartbreaking incidents is a dog found abandoned in a locked cage, left outdoors under the scorching sun.

Volunteers from Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore (CDAS) found it on Sunday (5 Jan), and are seeking help to rescue it.

Dog locked in outdoor cage in industrial area

Early this evening, CDAS shared a post on Facebook, along with photos of their upsetting discovery.

While passing through an industrial estate in Singapore, they chanced upon a suspicious structure by the roadside.

Curious, they peered under the mattress and canvas haphazardly piled on top and found a huge cage underneath it. Inside the cage stood a pitiful dog, alone and afraid.

With barely a window to the outside world, the only things in view were probably the shadows from the items sitting on top of the cage, and the immediate area surrounding the cage.

The minimal exposure also means that not much fresh air passes through, especially since the canvas likely traps heat. With the unsuspecting weather these days, the pup could very well be at risk of getting heatstroke or a cold when it rains.

Food scraps left in messy trails

Bits of rice by the edges of the cage indicate that the dog does get something to eat, though the regularity is uncertain.

There also appears to be a basin of water inside the cage.

Regardless of the above, the sorry state that the dog is in has left volunteers from CDAS feeling both angry and sad.

Don’t leave your pets out to fend for themselves

No pet should be left to fend for itself and in such constricted conditions. For this reason, CDAS urgently seeks anyone who can help to break the lock so they can free the dog.

People interested in fostering it are also welcome to reach out and contact CDAS via private message on Facebook.

CDAS intends to report their find to the authorities, and hopefully, the matter will be resolved amicably soon.

We hope that pet owners will be more responsible in caring for their pets, and provide them with the love and care they deserve.
