2 boys rush out of MRT to return laptop left by alighting passenger, praised for actions

2 boys run out of MRT train to return laptop left behind by passenger

When we think of acts of kindness, we often picture grand gestures like stopping a purse snatcher or performing CPR on someone who fainted.

But sometimes, even the smallest and simplest of actions can leave a lasting impression.

This was the case when a passenger witnessed a heart-warming moment on board an MRT train involving two boys.

In a Facebook post, user ‘Tian Lu’ (transliterated from Mandarin) shared that the incident took place on the Downtown Line on 12 Nov at around 8.35pm.

Speaking to MS News, Tian Lu said that a woman was seated in a priority seat with him sitting across from her.

He noted that the train was not crowded, so no one in need of a seat was being deprived.

Boys rush to return laptop forgotten on MRT train

As the MRT train pulled into Bedok North station, the woman stepped off — unaware that she had left her laptop behind on the seat.

Two boys, whom Tian Lu estimated to be in secondary school, spotted the forgotten laptop and immediately sprang into action.

“Without hesitation”, they grabbed it and rushed out of the train, racing after the woman.

They caught up with her just as she was about to step onto the escalator and returned the laptop to her.

Though Tian Lu couldn’t see her reaction from where he stood, he admired the boys’ quick thinking.

After the exchange, they turned and swiftly returned to the train, just as the doors were closing.

Tian Lu, impressed by their kindness and promptness, gave them a nod of approval and a thumbs-up.

He didn’t speak to them but took a photo to share their thoughtful deed on Facebook.

“I felt the boys did the right thing — they were quick-thinking, good, and intelligent,” he told MS News.

Tian Lu added that had the boys not been there, he would have handed the laptop over to the station manager.

Netizens praise kind boys for thoughtful gesture

The post quickly went viral in the Complaint Singapore group, garnering over 1,200 likes and counting.

Many commenters praised the boys, with one noting how their actions helped make the world a little brighter in their own small way.
