As we stay home during the ‘Circuit Breaker’(CB), food delivery riders have become central to our lives, helping to bring food orders to our doorsteps.
One food deliveryman was, however, the ‘centre’ of a recent commotion at Bukit Panjang Plaza.
On Friday (17 Apr), the food rider reportedly kicked over multiple motorbikes parked near the mall’s taxi stand.
Pictures of the aftermath were shared on the All Singapore Stuff Facebook group on Saturday (18 Apr). The post has since garnered nearly 2,000 shares.
In one of the pictures, several motorcycles were seen lying in the middle of the shopping centre’s taxi pick-up point.
One of them appears to have a turquoise Deliveroo food delivery bag mounted on it.
According to an All Singapore Stuff contributor, a GrabFood rider on a bicycle was responsible for the incident.
The man, dressed in a black adidas T-shirt, allegedly kicked over 8-10 motorcycles that were “blocking his way”.
Another photo shows the man involved in a heated discussion with a group of motorcyclists who were wearing their helmets.
Police officers eventually arrived at the scene and spoke to the man in black.
In response to 8World News queries, the Singapore Police Force said the incident happened at around 1.53pm on Friday (17 Apr).
The incident has been classified as a “public harassment and mischief” case. A 36-year-old man is currently assisting the police with their investigations.
The post has also received a slew of responses of varying nature from netizens.
This Facebook user did not take sides, pointing out that both parties are at fault for the incident.
Another said the food rider in black ought to be fined for not wearing a mask, regardless of what was happening.
Whatever the case, we hope the case will be settled amicably.
Let this also serve as a reminder for everyone not to let their emotions get the better of them.
The CB is already proving to be a difficult time for all of us. The consequences of our emotion-driven actions are the last thing we want to be dealing with during this period.
