Botanic Gardens Could Connect To Gardens By The Bay Via A Scenic Cycling Path In The Future

Bukit Timah-Rochor Green Corridor Could Be Built As Early As 2021

Singapore families staying in the west may soon have a new cycling route to ‘conquer’.

On Saturday (31 Aug), Minister Lawrence Wong revealed plans to build a massive 11km ‘green corridor’ which will allow Singaporeans to cycle from Singapore Botanic Gardens to the Gardens By The Bay.

The green corridor will connect 3 major gardens

The park connector, named Bukit Timah-Rochor Green Corridor, will be a continuous ‘linear sky park’ that runs parallel to the Bukit Timah Canal.

There will also be ‘look-out points’ and shelters along the way allowing visitors to stop and take in the scenic view.

Construction of the green corridor is split into different phases, the first of which involves a 1.4km elevated park that runs from Bukit Timah to Dunearn Road. Works for this phase of the project begin in 2021 and will be completed within 2-3 years.

There are reportedly plans for it to be extended to Kallang, essentially linking Jurong Lake Gardens, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and Gardens by the Bay.

A new recreational spot for families?

However, these are still plans at the time of writing and isn’t specified if or when the project will come to fruition.

That said, we definitely hope that the Bukit Timah-Rochor Green Corridor will one day be materialised, and will no doubt serve as a recreational spot for families staying in the west!
