6 New Covid-19 Cases Include 3 More From SAFRA Jurong & 1 With No Links

Singapore Reports 6 New Covid-19 Cases On 10 Mar

After the SAFRA Jurong cluster sparked another series of new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reports 6 more on Tuesday (10 Mar).

Among them, 3 are from the growing SAFRA Jurong cluster, 2 have links to previous cases and 1 has no known links.

While there are no new recoveries, more patients are now in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Mystery Covid-19 case returned from France

Case 165, a 30-year-old male Singaporean, is the mystery case with no known links.

While he didn’t visit any virus hotspots, he had been in France from 15 Feb-7 Mar.

MOH didn’t disclose when he arrived in Singapore, but he tested positive for Covid-19 today (10 Mar).

He is now in isolation at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and contact tracing is underway to find out how he was infected.

3 new cases from SAFRA Jurong

Adding to the growing cluster, 3 more patients with links to the 15 Feb dinner are part of today’s count.

2 are in isolation at NCID while the other is in isolation at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

2 patients linked to previous cases

The remaining 2 patients meanwhile have links to previous cases.

Case 162, a 28-year-old male Singaporean, was in Indonesia from 29 Feb-2 Mar.

He noticed symptoms several days later on 7 Mar, though it’s unclear if he consulted a doctor.

MOH referred him to NCID later on 9 Mar after identifying him as the close contact of Case 142, and he tested positive for Covid-19 that same afternoon.

Case 163 is a 27-year-old female Singaporean also linked to Case 142 and referred to NCID on 9 Mar, and tested positive that day.

She, however, had already noticed symptoms on 8 Mar.

She visited Funan Mall and PUB Recreation Club in Woodleigh before hospital admission.

Case 142 is linked to SAFRA Jurong Cluster

If you need a refresher, Case 142 was among 12 new cases announced last Sunday (8 Mar).

He is a 26-year-old male Singaporean who has no recent travel history to affected countries and regions. He is currently warded in an isolation room at NTFGH, and is linked to the cluster involving the private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong.

He reported onset of symptoms on 5 Mar, and was admitted to NTFGH on 6 Mar. He tested positive for Covid-19 the next day.

Prior to hospital admission, he had gone to work at First Page Digital Singapore at 144 Robinson Road, and visited The Aperia Mall at 12 Kallang Avenue. He stays at Jurong West Street 81.

No new recoveries, more in ICU

In an unfortunate update, MOH reports no new discharge cases on Tuesday (10 Mar).

Instead, 3 more patients are now in critical condition in the ICU, bringing the total count to 13.

With seemingly growing gravity of the Covid-19 situation, we hope everyone will be more socially responsible and seek medical help when unwell.

If advised to stay home, please do so. Let’s do our part to protect everyone’s safety.
