In the current climate of uncertainty, many would be wary of strangers approaching them.
But strangers offering Covid-19 care packages containing hot items like free masks are probably more than welcome.
A group of young Singaporeans from up and coming YouTube channel Rock N Rojak SG distributed 300 of such packages to strangers on Thursday (12 Mar).
They captured their wholesome attempt in a video that garnered positive comments.
While stories of heartwarming gestures have noticeably waned in recent weeks, Rock N Rojak SG decided to keep the goodwill going.
On Thursday (12 Mar), 4 youths from the team hit Singapore’s streets with 300 care packs to give to passersby.
Each pack contained a single surgical mask piece and a small packet of Scott’s Vitamin C pastilles.
Carrying huge bags of these smaller packs around, they approached random strangers in town to kill them — with kindness.
Covid-19 fears may not stop Singaporeans from enjoying a day out, but most appeared noticeably cautious of the group approaching them.
Thankfully, all that changed when they realised what was happening, lighting up with smiles.
A group of youths the team randomly interacted with even agreed to help out with the distribution, speeding up the process greatly.
Now that’s the display of unity and community spirit that we Singaporeans should be proud of.
Rock N Rojak SG’s gesture clearly moved people’s hearts, judging from the encouraging comments on their YouTube video.
If you’re inspired to do the same, you can do so right away and reach out to those in need so they can get through this coronavirus crisis.
But remember to be socially responsible by making sure you’re healthy before you go out and interact with others. Can’t take care of others without taking care of yourself.
