S’pore Cyclists Wear Funny Butt Tags To Show They’re From The Same Family

Singapore Family Of 3 Cyclists Wear Butt Tags When at Riding To Avoid Misunderstanding

Since the ‘Circuit Breaker’ kicked in, we’ve seen multiple pictures showing groups of cyclists riding in huge groups and apparently flouting social-distancing measures.

One such picture showing 6 cyclists at a traffic junction was uploaded on the All Singapore Stuff Facebook page on 10 Apr.

To prevent such misunderstandings, one family came up with an ingenious method — they wore butt tags to indicate that they’re from the same family.

Family of 3 cycles along Outram Road with creative butt tags

In the image, 3 cyclists donning matching outfits were stationary behind a bus at what appears to be a traffic junction.

Given their surroundings, the picture was likely taken at the junction between Outram Road and Chin Swee Road.

Apart their matching outfit, the 3 riders also had a rather unique tag on their backs.

The lady’s tag, which appears clearest in the picture reads “SAME HOUSEHOLD ♥️ MUM”.

The other 2 riders next to her were also wearing similar tags, but with slight differences — they read — “DAD” and “DAUGHTER” respective.

The trio probably resides in the same household and did not want others to mistake them for cyclists who continue to congregate despite the safe-distancing measures.

Singaporans can cycle, run, or walk with others in same households

If you were wondering, there was nothing wrong with them cycling together if they were indeed staying together.

According to a SportsSG advisory issued on 15 Apr, Singaporeans are still allowed to leave home for exercises like walking, running, or cycling.

They may choose to engage in these activities either by themselves or with others living in the same household.

Additionally, Singaporeans need not put on masks when carrying out these “strenuous” activities. However, they are required to do so once they’ve completed the workout.

Exercising is important, but please to adhere to safe-distancing advisories

Kudos to the family for coming up with the creative method to avoid any potential misunderstanding.

While keeping fit remains important during this time, let’s all be extra cautious by adhering to the safe distancing advisories that the authorities have put out.
