DBS Services Down Due To Data Centre Issue, Services May Progressively Return From 7pm

DBS Banking Services Down On 14 Oct

UPDATE (14 Oct, 6.15pm): In an update to their Facebook post on 14 Oct, DBS revealed that they traced the issue back to the data centre, which various other organisations are also using. Customers can expect services to be progressively restored from 7pm.

DBS digital banking and payment services are facing an outage on Saturday (14 Oct) afternoon. There are also reports that ATM services are unavailable.

The bank has since issued a statement confirming the outage and said they’re working on resolving the issue.

Customers complain of issues with DBS banking services

From about 3.40pm today (14 Oct), MS News received complaints from readers claiming that they were unable to access DBS’ digital services.

Attempts to log in to the DBS PayLah! app only led them to encounter an error message.

Customers were also unable to log in via the online banking site.

Some users allegedly received a similar error message when they attempted to access banking services at automated teller machines (ATMs).

Bank working on resolving issue

At about 4.30pm the same day, DBS issued a statement acknowledging the outage.

In the statement, the bank said that they’re actively working to resolve the issues with their banking services and sought customers’ patience.

 

They also said that they’re “reactivating” their branches to help customers with their transaction requests.

The bank assured customers that their systems were not compromised and took the opportunity to extend their apologies. Customers who wish to follow the latest developments may check DBS’ Facebook page for updates on the ongoing issue.

Service disruption caused by issue at data centre

In an update to their Facebook post at 6.08pm today (14 Oct), DBS shared that the service disruption was caused by an issue at a data centre that various other organisations are using.

They claimed that they were trying their best to head to their backup data centre and assured customers that they could expect services to go online progressively from 7pm.

Meanwhile, customers can visit the bank’s physical branches (except those at Tampines Central, Tampines One and White Sands due to relocation and renovation) for assistance.

DBS continues to seek everyone’s patience while they try to resolve the issues and assures users that all monies remain safe.

A check on Downdetector at the time of writing shows that complaints about disruptions to various services and platforms like WhatsApp and Citibank also spiked in recent hours.

However, these sites have yet to issue statements except for Singtel, who verified that their “networks are working as normal”.
