The iconic Katong district is always bustling with tourists, but it recently welcomed a particularly famous visitor: British-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa.
In Singapore for her ‘Radical Optimism’ world tour concert on 5 and 6 Nov, Lipa appeared to have arrived a day early to explore the vibrant area.
Taking to Instagram on Monday (4 Nov), the ‘One Kiss’ singer shared snippets of her adventures, which appeared to revolve around food — lots of it.
Wasting no time, Lipa dove into the local cuisine with friends at one of Singapore’s most famous laksa spots, 328 Katong Laksa at 51 East Coast Road.
In addition, the group grabbed cool sour plum drinks to accompany their bowl of spicy laksa noodles.
Next, the 29-year-old singer snapped a series of photos on Ceylon Road, with the Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple as her backdrop.
To the delight of local fans, Lipa also sampled Singapore’s iconic chilli crab and other zi char dishes at New Ubin Seafood on Stevens Road.
“So far this tour is powered by sour plum juice, chilli crab and laksa!!” The singer captioned her Instagram post. “What else should I try while I’m out hereeeee?”
In response, many Singaporeans eagerly chimed in, recommending local favourites such as chicken rice, satay, and biryani for her to try.
Lipa announced the Asian leg of her tour earlier this May, confirming Singapore as the first stop on her month-long journey.
Initially scheduled for just one night, she added a second date due to high demand.
Her last performance in Singapore was in May 2018 at the Star Theatre. She also made a brief appearance at the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix alongside Dutch DJ Martin Garrix.
In March this year, Lipa made a whirlwind 24-hour stop in the Lion City for a Porsche event and was spotted by fans at Marina Bay Sands.
