Here’s How To Survive F1 Grand Prix 2018 Road Closures Around Marina Centre

F1 Grand Prix 2018 Road Closures & Openings

If you’ve jio-ed bae for drive around the Marina Centre area from 12-18 Sep, we have pretty bad news for you.

Roads will be closed in September for a week, to facilitate preparations for the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix race.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced the exact timings and roads to take note of on Tuesday (21 Aug).

Don’t worry, we’ve got your back – and your date – covered.

We’ve compiled all the road opening times so you can plan your schedule around it.

Roads up by 18 Sep

Beginning on Wed (12 Sep) at precisely 12.01am, LTA has promised that the roads will be fully functional by early morning on Tuesday (18 Sep) at 5.30am.

To allow for rush hour commute, certain corridors will be open.

Single-lane access available

For vehicles excluding buses and cars with W, X and Y plates, you’ll be able to enter Marina Centre’s single-lane access during these times:

Raffles Boulevard via Nicoll Highway:

12-14 Sep: 10am-5pm & 10pm-6am
15-16 Sep: 12am-1pm
17 Sep: 12am-6am, 10am-5pm, 10pm-6am

Taxis will be allowed to use the single lane at all times, except on race days.

Entering Marina Centre through Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Rd is possible for all drivers as well.

If you’re blur like sotong, you can rely on trusty traffic wardens to direct and assist you.

Parking wise, there will still be Suntec City, Marina Square and Millenia Singapore to choose from.

Train service timings extended

On race days 14-15 Sep, trains from City Hall MRT station will run till 12.30am. While 16 Sep’s trains will continue running till 12.45am.

Feeder buses will also be extended to complement the last train services.

Those heading for the race will be pleased to know that shuttle buses will take you Lavender MRT station to Gate 1 of the race venue for free.

Race to the finish

Getting around with your Marina bae doesn’t have to be that difficult, if you’re properly prepared.

Though road closures are a chore, let’s grit our teeth and bear with the temporary inconveniences.

Hopefully the F1 Grand Prix will kick off without a hitch as always.
