It’s a situation we’ve all been in before: waiting desperately for a food delivery that never seems to appear.
But RIA 89.7 DJ KC had enough of waiting for his dinner on Monday (18 Jun) night.
So the popular Malay-language radio DJ took to Facebook to share his frustration with foodpanda.
He appears to have made the video at around 8.30pm, an hour after he claimed to have ordered his dinner from the food delivery service.
Receiving a notification that his food was arriving, DJ KC went down to Mediacorp’s reception and waited.
He said,
I saw a foodpanda bike just ride past me without stopping. I know (it was my rider).
How DJ KC knew that the rider was indeed delivering his food we’ll never know.
But he proceeded to remind viewers not to order food from foodpanda.
He did this at least three times – ending his rant with a dramatic,
Foodpanda, you suck!
In a video posted an hour later, DJ KC explains that he did turn to foodpanda support but claims that they didn’t do anything to help him.
Do not go onto foodpanda’s live chat to submit your complaint. They will not do anything; I’ve tried.
DJ KC probably didn’t expect that the rider in question would respond to his video.
A Facebook user shared a post by Nobel Teo, who claimed to be DJ KC’s foodpanda rider.
Here’s Mr Teo’s post in full:
Mr Teo claims that he had reached Mediacorp at around 8.20pm and was waiting at the building’s taxi stand, with his engine turned off.
He adds that he tried to reach DJ KC but could not get through. He continues,
I believe even my manager on duty tried to contact him. … I did not see anyone that looked like (DJ KC) nor did anyone approach me.
He shared photos of his call and SMS logs to prove that he did try to reach DJ KC.
Mr Teo eventually left Mediacorp after the order was cancelled.
He explained that it was “aggravating (for) riders” as well when customers are contactable.
Since Mediacorp is a large employer with thousands of employees, it’s possible that DJ KC simply mistook the driver who rode off as his own deliveryman.
The DJ has not responded to Mr Teo’s post.
DJ KC’s rant is the latest attack on foodpanda this month.
Last Wednesday (13 Jun), a Facebook user posted an open letter to the food delivery firm’s management, calling it the “worst food delivery service ever“.
His gripe was that foodpanda had charged him for food which it had not delivered.
foodpanda has responded to neither post.
The comments section of both Mr Albar and DJ KC’s posts show that netizens are largely divided about foodpanda.
Some, like this user, have never had a problem with the food delivery service and asked foodpanda customers to be more understanding.
Butr others disagreed, stating that they too were frustrated with its service.
This user shared his negative experience trying to get a refund for an incomplete order.
Riders also chimed in, asking for more consideration and understanding from customers.

And in case you were wondering, DJ KC didn’t go hungry last night. He had a piping hot meal of claypot chicken and rice, courtesy of Chef in a Box.
