We’re officially on Day 15 of McDonald’s closures in Singapore. While fans are still reeling from the absence of McSpicy burgers in our lives, a McNugget connoisseur has found a close ‘replacement’ to the addictive chicken snack.
Here’s Mr Leslie Koh’s post in full on 3 May.
We summarise his tips on how to make your own McNuggets in the comfort of your own homes while we wait for McDonald’s to reopen.
Mr Koh begins his post with a tribute to his love for crispy chicken nuggets from McDonald’s. Apparently, he’s been on the hunt for a frozen version of McNuggets since McDonald’s announced urgent closures on Sunday (19 Apr).
He shares that he’s taste-tested many brands has concluded that FreezePak’s frozen nuggets taste the most authentic.
In his words,
The smell, the taste, even the shape resembles McNuggets.
If deep-frying them at high temperatures was possible at home, we’d be able to replicate the mouth feel exactly, elaborated Mr Koh.
Price wise, 1kg of FreezePak frozen nuggets – approximately 42 pieces – seems quite reasonable too.
They’re sold on these online shopping platforms:
Qoo10 & Shopee’s listing cites them as halal-certified for our Muslim friends too.
If you prefer not to get them online, Mr Koh claims they’re sold in NTUC and Sheng Siong supermarkets — for $6.95/pack to $7.95/pack.
Within a day, Mr Koh says he’s finished an entire 1kg pack of the nuggets. While we would not recommend that to our readers, he’s cementing his review of the brand with ‘two thumbs up’.
As a self-proclaimed McNugget connoisseur, I approve this Freezepak nuggets with 👍🏽👍🏽.
He concludes his post by asking everyone not to hoard the brand but to “share the love with others ❤️”.
Families who do give the brand a try can reach out to him after and let him know if his review was legit.
We’re certainly excited to give Mr Koh’s recommendation a try.
An afternoon snack of homemade ‘McNuggets’ would be a great way to brighten up the atmosphere at home and give our loved ones something to look forward to.
