S’poreans Troll Carousell With Overpriced Fillet-O-Fish Burgers After McDonald’s Closures

Carousell Users List Fillet-O-Fish For $70,000 After McDonald’s Announces 2-Week Closure

Fast-food lovers woke up to a world of misery on Sunday (19 Apr) as McDonald’s announced that it will be ceasing operation for 2 weeks. That means no hotcakes, McSpicy, and our personal favourite — golden crispy McNuggets.

While some managed to get their last meal from the Golden Arches before orders stopped, those who woke up later could only hold their breath as they took in the devasting news.

Some Singaporeans, guided by their enterprising spirit and humour, took to Carousell to troll users with absurdly-priced McDonald’s offerings.

McGriddles listed for $50 after McDonald’s announces closure

Singaporeans love their breakfasts, and McDonald’s closure will likely have many missing their signature McGriddles Stack.

This Carousell user managed to purchase the breakfast burger at 8.30am today and listed it for a whopping $50.

The offer has sadly been closed, as the user received “overwhelming response” and did not want to leave anyone disappointed.

If you’re wondering where the McGriddles went, it ended in his tummy. Lucky guy.

Carousell user offers $70,000 for Fillet-O-Fish

Another Carousell user decided to appeal to fish-lover, selling his ala carte Fillet-O-Fish for a more modest $7.

The burger was allegedly bought on Friday (17 Apr) and has been kept in the freezer to maintain its “10/10” pristine condition.

A complimentary packet of garlic chilli sauce will also be included for those who prefer it with a spicy kick.

Demand for the burger was so high that price was later amended to $700, and soon after, $70,000.

The user later clarified that it was a joke and urged anyone willing to pay $70,000 for the burger to donate the sum to charity instead.

If you miss the sting and burn that came with every mouth of McSpicy, this Carousell user is selling it for a measly $1,009.

Carousell user willing to pay 2-3x original price for McDonald’s meal

Any marketplace can only be sustainable with a pool of sellers and buyers. In this case, we also managed to find users who were willing to pay over-the-top prices for their last McDonald’s meal before 4 May.

This Carousell user claims he is willing to pay 2-3x the original price for McDonald’s meals that were purchased today.

So if you happen to have a McDonald’s meal bought today sitting in the freezer, here’s one way to turn a neat profit.

These pranks helped to lift Singaporeans’ spirit

While McDonald’s 2-week closure would cause many to feel disappointed, we are heartened that Singaporeans are taking it relatively well.

Even though many of these Carousell listings are merely for jokes, at least it brought a smile to others’ faces, lifting Singaporeans’ spirits amid these difficult times.
