GrabFood Customer Orders Drinks On Food Delivery App For Riders To Share

Many citizens are now opting to stay at home as the Covid-19 outbreak worsens in Singapore.

In order to ensure food gets delivered to our doorsteps on time, food delivery riders are working hard to complete their tasks.

Out of gratitude, a customer decided to treat them to cups of free drinks in a pretty unconventional manner.

GrabFood Customer ordered Each-A-Cup bubble tea for riders

According to Mr Syed’s post, a customer named Mr Yeo ordered at least 6 cups of bubble tea from Each-A-Cup via the GrabFood app.

However, he told Mr Syed that he “don’t have to send the order”.

Turns out, Mr Yeo actually paid for the drinks to treat delivery riders who are now particularly busy due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Mr Yeo also told My Syed to share them with food delivery riders waiting outside malls in a kind text message.

The food delivery rider hence took to Facebook to share this meaningful encounter with netizens.

He shared that food delivery riders have to expose themselves to greater risks of contracting the virus, due to the nature of their job. Furthermore, they do it for a “small delivery fee” under the hot weather.

Hence, heartwarming actions by customers really “brighten” their day, keeping them motivated during these turbulent times.

Show appreciation towards service workers

While it’s easy for most Singaporeans to seek refuge at home during this Covid-19 outbreak, many service staff like food delivery riders are sacrificing themselves so we can continue having our food delivered to us while we practice social distancing.

Hence, while we enjoy the comfort of our homes, do remember to pause and thank the service staff around us.

Like Mr Yeo, we can show our appreciation simply by treating them to a drink or even saying a word of thanks when they deliver our food.

We hope that delivery riders and other service staff will stay safe amidst the growing pandemic.
