Two people went hiking in a forested area near Whitley Road and went missing for close to two hours, the police said.
Thankfully, the police and Gurkhas found them after a search.
They did not suffer any injuries.
In a Facebook post about the discovery of the missing hikers on Saturday (24 Feb), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it received information about the pair at about 11.40am that day.
The hikers were reported to be lost in the forested area near Merryn Road.
The long road, which stretches from Whitley Road to Trevose Crescent, is part of a landed residential estate that borders a forested area next to the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).
Police officers from Tanglin Division and the Gurkha Contingent helped in the search for the missing hikers, SPF said.
They finally found them at 12.55pm — an hour and 15 minutes after they were reported missing.
Officers brought the hikers, who were unhurt, to safety.
In light of the incident, the SPF advised the public to stay on designated trails while trekking, for their safety.
In April 2023, two male hikers went missing in the forested areas of MacRitchie Nature Trail & Reservoir Park.

In 2020, two teenage boys lost their way in the MacRitchie forest while looking for a shrine. Police found them within 1.5 hours.
