If you have been to Hong Kong, you may have seen the shop Hui Lau Shan. It specialises in mango desserts and is one of the most famous dessert shops in Hong Kong.
According to Today Online, Hui Lau Shan will be making its return to Singapore in January 2020. The dessert chain used to operate in Singapore in 2005, but closed down after a mere few months of its opening.
Hui Lau Shan will be returning with 2 stores in Singapore, one at NEX and another one at Chinatown Point.
The store at Serangoon’s NEX is scheduled to open somewhere in Jan 2020 and will be located on the 3rd floor. There is no confirmation, however, on when the Chinatown Point outlet will open.
For their opening day, Hui Lau Shan will be giving away 50 of their signature Mango Jelly Smoothie at their NEX outlet.
All you have to do is like and share their Facebook page and Instagram. And of course, get in line early, because we all know Singaporeans’ propensity for queuing.
If you are new to the brand or just need a reminder of some of the delicious desserts Hui Lau Shan serves, here’s a couple to whet your appetite before the opening day in Jan.
A favourite dish among Singaporeans is undoubtedly the mango sago. Hui Lau Shan’s Mango Sago is supposedly the OG mango sago.
If I remember correctly from the last time I tried it, it had a creamy and smooth texture, making it very palatable. It also wasn’t too sweet, as it happens to some servings of this common dessert.
Hui Lau Shan’s Mango Mochi Balls are usually ordered as a shared dish when out with family and friends. However, if you are a mango lover, you can probably, easily have a couple of these all by yourself.
Thinking of BBT? Why not swap it for an equally refreshing mango smoothie? What’s more, the drink comes with bits of fresh mango for that additional flavour.
If you are a fan of Hui Lau Shan or desserts in general, remember to mark your calendars for that opening day with 50 free cups of mango jelly.
