Passport Photo-Taking Services At ICA Building Will Discontinue From 30 Jun

ICA Urges The Public To Submit Documents Online Instead

Many Singaporeans visiting the ICA Building for appointments may choose to have their passport photos conveniently taken there.

But visitors will no longer be able to do so after 30 Jun, as photo-taking services at the ICA building will be discontinued.

Passport photo company’s contract will end on 30 Jun

According to an ICA spokesperson, its contract with Yishun Broadway Studio, the external contractor providing the services, will end on 30 Jun.

Following the expiry of the contract, ICA will be using the space for “operational purposes”.

ICA urges the public to submit documents digitally

In light of this disruption, ICA urges members of the public to submit their passports digitally or have their pictures taken at other shops near the ICA building.

ICA claims that there are several of these services within “short walking distance” from the building, so don’t worry too much about locating one.

Late last year, ICA announced that all passport and NRIC applications will have to be done online via the MyICA website, starting 2020.

Those without internet access or require help should use the self-service kiosks stationed at the ICA building, where there’ll be staff present to render assistance.

Electronic application is the way forward

While some may be disappointed with the discontinuation of the passport photo-taking service at the ICA building, moving the entire process online seems to be the best way forward.

Not only does it save applicants a trip down to the ICA headquarter, it also helps to cut down on unnecessary wastage such as paper and ink.

If you or anyone you know is planning to renew their passport, share this with them so they’ll know of this impending change.
