IPPT Will Resume For All NSMen On 1 March After Temporary Suspension Amid Covid-19

IPPT Will Resume For All NSMen After Suspension Earlier This Month Amid Covid-19

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) suspended Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) for all NSmen until end-February, in light of the Covid-19 outbreak.

On Friday (28 Feb), MINDEF announced that NSmen can now start to book their IPPT, Remedial Training (RT) and IPPT Preparatory Training (IPT) again, starting 1 Mar.

Extra precautions taken to ensure cleanliness

In MINDEF’s post, they reassured NSmen that they had implemented “enhanced measures” to safeguard their well-being.

In particular, equipment and common areas are more frequently disinfected and cleaned, to avoid any lingering particulates.

Smaller groups of NSmen will also participate in the tests and training at any time too, so as to avoid a large congregation of servicemen.

MINDEF also mentioned that these were in addition to other precautionary measures they had enforced for visitors to SAF Camps, SAFRA gyms, and IPT-in-the-Park locations.

IPPT will resume on 1 Mar

On 13 Feb, MINDEF announced that IPPT would be temporarily suspended until the end of Feb, in light of Covid-19.

IPPT were, however, still held during In-Camp Training (ICT).

NSmen whose IPPT window ends in February were also told to inform their unit for assistance.

NSmen to reschedule tests if they have recent travel to critical areas

NSmen who visited areas critically affected Covid-19 like China, Daegu city, or Cheongdo county in the last 14 days are advised to reschedule their test.

MINDEF also wrote that it would continue to “review and adjust” its measures to safeguard the well-being of NSmen. Measures may be heightened or slackened but will be adjusted accordingly to the local Covid-19 situation.

We hope the measures taken are sufficient to keep NSmen healthy and safe during their training.

If your IPPT window is closing soon, remember to book a session ASAP. You don’t want to receive a SAF 264 asking you to head down for a summary trial, trust me.
