As Singapore’s Covid-19 situation escalates, the demand for staff in the healthcare sector and essential services like supermarkets are on the rise.
Thus, on Thursday (2 Apr), Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin took to Facebook to promote a new initiative by LinkedIn that aims to alleviate this shortage.
The company is helping to recruit people suited for “critical and urgent roles” on the Covid-19 frontlines.
LinkedIn is widely used as a professional networking site, where employers can post job listings to attract potential employees.
According to a statement by LinkedIn on its official blog, it is helping out organisations and companies with their “urgent hiring needs” by letting them post jobs on their site for free.
Those that will benefit are Singapore’s non-profit organisations and hospitals that are working to fight Covid-19, as well as warehouses, delivery services that supermarkets that provide essential services.
Hopefully, it will help them get talent to solve their manpower neeeds effectively at zero cost.

On the other hand, LinkedIn will also be actively sending notifications and real-time alerts to account holders to make them aware of the availability of such jobs.
They also highlighted these jobs as urgent in the homepages of their apps, such that their users are always aware of positions that desperately need to be filled.
Additionally, instead of waiting for talent to sign up, the company will also proactively source for talent.
In order to do that, it expanded their “Recruiting For Good” initiative, in which more than 100 LinkedIn employees have volunteered to help recruit potential candidates for companies.
This ensures positions are taken up by suitable people more quickly.
