Customers Queue Overnight At Kallang McDonald’s For McGriddles Hoodie, Line Snakes Around Restaurant

Customer Started Queueing For McDonald’s McGriddles Hoodie Ahead Of Launch On 3 Aug

In 2019, McDonald’s fans queued for up to 12 hours to get the limited edition McGriddles Hoodie, which unsurprisingly sold out quickly.

Yesterday (2 Aug), McDonald’s Singapore announced that it will be dropping a new iteration of the clothing the next morning, exclusively at its Kallang outlet.

Despite the last-minute notice, a throng of loyal fans turned up for a chance to cop the exclusive merch, forming a long line around the restaurant.

Queue form at Kallang McDonald’s At 8pm On 2 Aug For McGriddles Hoodie

On Wednesday (2 Aug) evening, McDonald’s Singapore announced that it will be dropping a limited-edition McGriddles Hoodie at 7am on Thursday (3 Aug).

Customers can only redeem the hoodie with every purchase of the Breakfast McGriddles 2x Value Meal. Only 200 pieces were reportedly available.

The most important catch, however, is that the hoodie is only available for those who walk in to buy them. This means that customers cannot purchase it via other means like McDelivery or delivery apps.

Therefore, it was to no surprise that some people queued overnight outside the outlet next to Mountbatten MRT Station.

According to comments on McDonald’s Singapore’s Facebook page, a queue had already formed by about 8pm the night before.

The queue grew to about 100 people at about 12am and later to 190 at about 3.30am.

One user who was there at about 5am shared a picture of the queue which stretched from the front door to the back where the drive-thru is located.

Meanwhile, an MS News reader who reached the location at about 4am claimed that the queue was already “super long” by then. She noticed people with sleeping bags, which led her to conclude that they had stayed overnight there.

At about 5.50am, she said that McDonald’s staff told people in line around her that there were about 250 or more others ahead of them, likely hinting that they didn’t stand a chance. So, they left just 10 minutes later.

Despite the queue situation, some customers successfully copped the exclusive beige hoodie.

Others who arrived later weren’t as lucky — they were greeted by a snaking queue when they got to the outlet.

This TikTok user even claimed that some of those in the queue were armed with portable chairs.

Rather expectedly, a number of McGriddles Hoodies have already found their way on Carousell, and are for sale at prices starting from about S$100.
