Mother’s Day is that one time a year – other than birthdays – that mums get to be hailed as queens.
After all, they have been there for us since we took our first breaths. That is at least 2 decades of their lives dedicated to bringing us up, ensuring that we’ll always have a roof over our heads and food on the table.
This year, things are a little different — we need not tell you why. There won’t be sumptuous feasts at your favourite restaurants, no outings to your favourite hangout spot with the fam.
But, love isn’t about making grand gestures. During simple times, it’s about letting your mum know that she is loved, and that you’re always thinking about her.
Under ‘Circuit Breaker’, several millennials have taken the time to show appreciation to their Queen Bee on Mother’s Day.
The video, from TheSmartLocal, features 5 Singaporean millennials telling us why their mothers will reign supreme in their hearts forever.
One of the millennials Praveen reveals his mother’s quirk, saying how she’s “super vain” because she’ll all about getting her pictures taken at good angles.
Even so, she’s his Wonder Woman of the house, constantly making sure everything in the house runs smoothly.
Marissa describes her mum as a “very capable and strong single mum” who takes care of her and 3 siblings. That’s why, mama Jasmine is a pillar of strength in her life.
Jessica shares that this is her first time spending Mother’s Day away from her mum because she has just moved out after getting married last year.
‘Circuit Breaker’ rules mandate that we aren’t allowed to socialise with people out of our immediate household.
But even so, that didn’t stop her from having a video call with her mumsie. At least she still gets to see her mum’s expressions when she says “I love you.”
Meanwhile, Leah thinks her mum is the smartest person, to which her mum questions skeptically, “Smartest? Really?”
They laugh it out, but Leah backs up her proclamation with the fact that her mum’s advice has helped her through tough times.
As for Alif, he knows his mum as the “most hardworking lady” in his life. They hug as he says “I love you.”
Aww, look at his mum’s sweet smile as she leans in for an embrace.
If this video has gotten you all warm and fuzzy, you can join the bandwagon by posting your dedication to your mother on social media.
Be it Facebook or Instagram, just include a hashtag #FFLMothersDay, and you could win shopping or dining vouchers for you and your mum. For more details, click here.
Hopefully, you’ll get to spend them soon after ‘Circuit Breaker’ measures are lifted. Stay safe, and take care.
