National Day is just a few days away, and Singaporeans are gearing up for celebrations.
Every year, large crowds will form at popular haunts like Marina Barrage to catch the fireworks ‘live’, and latecomers often struggle to find a good spot.
But fret not, because this year, they’re bringing the National Day fireworks to you, right into the heartlands.
If the closest you’ve been to the National Day fireworks was at the Primary 5 NE show or your last outing to the NDP years ago, it’s time to experience it again.
Now you can do so without going far from the comfort of your home, as fireworks will be set off at five heartland sites on Saturday (10 Aug), at 6.45pm:
Residents living within the vicinity can probably pop their heads out their windows and catch the spectacular sight. No need to camp in town to chope a spot anymore.
To make the affair even more patriotic, a Mobile Column featuring vehicles from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Home Team will also be making special appearances.
Tanks, police cars and fire engines will park at each of these five sites so residents can get up close with the cool array of safety vehicles.
2019 marks 50 years since the Mobile Column first drove down the Padang at the 1969 parade. So you should totally be there to witness and be a part of a historical moment.
If you won’t be at any of the five sites, you can also gather at any of these popular locations to watch the lineup pass by and soak in the national pride:

They’ll be driving by enough locations across Singapore, so the chances of you missing out are very slim.
This year’s celebration is set to be the most exciting yet, with fun activities lined up in the heartlands.
Carnivals where residents can participate in a variety of games and enjoy delicious treats will be held at the five sites, each with their own unique themes.
Best of all, the People’s Association (PA) and NDP Executive Committee will be handing out 50,000 NDP Funpacks at these locations so you can bring home some goodies and souvenirs even if you missed the NDP.
All you have to do is register your interest at your nearest Community Club (CC). Availability is on a first-come-first-served basis, so don’t be surprised if they run out fast.
Don’t have any plans yet for 10 August? Why not bring your family down to be a part of the exciting celebrations, and ignite their love and pride for Singapore.
