Phuket Cafe Has A Massive Lotus Pond & Coffee From S$3

Phuket is synonymous with a tranquil beach-side getaway with your loved ones. But even the most pristine beaches may get a little boring, if that’s all you’ll be doing.

Ma Doo Bua Cafe – directly translated in English to ‘Come See Lotus’ Cafe – has an entire pond covered in massive lotus leaves, and twists on local delicacies like Crab Pad Thai & deconstructed Thai Iced Tea, with prices starting from S$3.

Here’s what to expect if you plan to switch up the jet-skiing itinerary with a rustic glimpse into what Thailand was like in the days of yore.

Lotus lake is entirely covered in massive leaves

Phuket’s very own lotus cafe occupies a vast complex, with an entire pond full of massive lotus leaves, surrounded by traditional Thai hutches.

A traditional riverboat right smack in the middle of the lake is also a great prop for adventurous guests.

Consider laying among the floating leaves for the perfect ‘gram shot.

But if you didn’t bring your drone camera along, you can always pose modestly on the tip of the boat too.

Pose on top of lotus leaves if you dare

To attain the highest level of serenity, try venturing into the pond if you dare, to perch on top of a lotus leaf for a picture.

You’re advised to do so at your own risk, however. The cafe probably can’t guarantee your safety but the lotus leaf is described to be enforced by an “acrylic disk” that “spreads the force” out evenly.

We prefer to sit prettily on the extended platform bridges, where it’s nice and dry.

Stunning by day, tranquil by night

The cafe is open from 11am to 10pm daily, so the 2 hours you set aside from your busy schedule to head over from your resort will be worth it.

As dusk falls, the cafe’s lotus lake takes on an ethereal quality, with guests retreating to the lit pavilions to enjoy their dinner.
