After a round of spring cleaning for Chinese New Year (CNY), everyone will surely have lots of items they don’t want anymore.
Instead of throwing your old stuff away, consider donating your pre-loved items to a local welfare organisation—ItsRainingRaincoats. According to a Facebook post, they will be accepting donations of any items that are in good condition from 10 Feb to 28 Feb.
Get into the spirit of CNY by being generous to our less fortunate migrant workers.
ItsRainingRaincoats is an initiative by kind Singaporeans to “spread kindness to migrant workers” in the country.
They’ve embarked on various projects, with regular ones on festive occasions, which is why the upcoming CNY is the perfect timing.
This time around, they’ll be collecting new or pre-loved items to share with migrant workers. Anyone keen on contributing can donate items that are in good condition.
Here is a list of items that you can donate:
We bet many households stock up on CNY snacks and treats for friends and family. If you have any extra treats that you don’t wish to eat, you may donate them too.

ItsRainingRaincoats is also planning to give treats to migrant workers in construction areas, dormitories, and work sites.
Interested donors can drop-off their pre-loved or new items to local volunteers across various areas in the city.
Get in touch by contacting the volunteers through WhatsApp or text message. You can find the list of the volunteers as well as the areas where you can meet them on their website.
ItsRainingRaincoats want donors to give items in good condition to maintain the dignity of its recipients. Hence, please do not give items that are worn out, broken, torn, mouldy, stained or unusable.
Ensure that the items are washed or cleaned before donating them. If an item is considered unusable, then volunteers will return it.
