A video of someone lying in the aisle of a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight from Sydney to Singapore surfaced on the Singapore Incidents Instagram page on Wednesday (12 Apr), sparking much concern.
In response to queries from MS News, SIA said that a passenger had become unwell on the flight. Two cabin crew also fell on the same flight, though it’s unclear how the incident unfolded and who the person who had collapsed was.
The cabin crew did not require medical attention afterwards and were able to “continue with their duties” for the rest of the flight, the airline added.
The footage is a little over 30 seconds long and shows someone lying on the floor, along the aisle. A pillow prevents the person’s head from making contact with the floor.
There are people surrounding her, presumably passengers who have come to her aid. At one point, a flight attendant can be seen approaching the individual.

The in-video text states that the person had apparently passed out, identifying her as a flight attendant. However, SIA clarified with MS News that the person in question is not their cabin crew.
It also noted that the incident occurred on a flight from Sydney to Singapore.
The video did not provide any other details or context.
Seeing the person on the floor and the video’s caption, many Instagram users instinctively expressed concern for the person.
Meanwhile, some thought that the person who recorded the footage should have respected the person’s privacy. One of them asked why they would film the video and urged them to put themselves in the other person’s shoes.

Responding to queries from MS News, an SIA spokesperson confirmed that the incident occurred onboard flight SQ232 from Sydney to Singapore on 11 Apr.
They provided more context to the story, saying that there was a passenger who was unwell on the flight. The passenger received medical assistance on board.
A subsequent assessment determined them fit to continue with the rest of the journey. However, the passenger was advised to seek medical attention after reaching Singapore.
According to the SIA spokesperson, two members of its cabin crew fell as a result of the incident, without providing more details.
“The affected cabin crew did not sustain any injuries from the incident, and were able to continue with their duties for the remaining of the flight,” said the SIA spokesperson.
The spokesperson also added that they are unable to provide more information to “safeguard the privacy of [its] customers and staff”.
