Shortly after the number of Covid-19 cases hit the 1,000 mark, Singapore reported its fourth Covid-19 death on Thursday (2 Apr).
The patient in question was a 68-year-old Indonesian man who holds a Singapore Work Pass.
Like previously reported deaths, the man had underlying health conditions too.
According to The Straits Times, the deceased was a Singapore Work Pass Holder who was in Indonesia from 20 Jan to 16 Mar.
He succumbed to the disease today (2 Apr) at around 6.43am.
The patient tested positive for Covid-19 on 22 Mar and was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on the same day.
His condition presumably took a turn for the worse on 26 Mar and staff transferred him to the intensive care unit (ICU).
He subsequently developed serious complications and died from the infection after spending 7 days in the ICU.
The NCID is in touch with the deceased’s family and is rendering assistance to them.
Our condolences go out to the family members and friends of the deceased. May he rest in peace.
This once again highlights the severity of the disease and why we should not take advisories and measures from the government lightly.
MS News also wishes all patients currently battling the virus a smooth recovery.
