8 New S’pore Covid-19 Cases Include 5 Linked To Grace Assembly Of God Church & 1 DBS Employee Relative

8 New Covid-19 Cases In Singapore Brings Total To 58 On 13 Feb

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 8 new cases of the coronavirus Covid-19 in Singapore today (13 Feb).

All patients have links to previous cases, according to the press release by MOH.

5 Covid-19 cases trace back to church cluster

Among them, 5 have links to Grace Assembly of God Church, which reported 2 cases on Wednesday (12 Feb).

All 5 with links to the church cluster are Singaporeans. 1 of them is an employee at the National University of Singapore (NUS), but did not interact with fellow workers or students after noticing symptoms.

Another is apparently a pastor at the church, who had gone to work at both the Tanglin and Bukit Batok branches. He released an official disclaimer on the church’s website, which you can read here.

Since MOH identified the possible cluster following the 12 Feb cases, the church has suspended services to prevent further infection.

2 foreign workers with links to Seletar construction site

Another 2 patients have links with the Seletar Aerospace Heights construction site, which MOH had also identified as a possible cluster.

This was following reports of 2 previous cases. The site now has 4 confirmed cases to date.

All 4 are foreign workers.

DBS case leads to 1 new patient

An evacuation at Marina Bay Financial Centre on Wednesday (12 Feb), which led to news of a confirmed Covid-19 case there probably induced some anxiety.

True enough, MOH revealed that 1 of the 8 new cases is a family member of the Singaporean DBS employee.

Contact tracing ongoing

Contact tracing for the new cases is underway, after which MOH will monitor their conditions closely.

As of today (13 Feb), 711 suspect cases have tested negative for Covid-19 while test results for 82 others are still pending.

15 patients have been discharged so far, while the number in ICU remains at 7.
