One thing drivers are constantly reminded of is to not leave precious belongings in the car. Even if just for a quick meal, leaving your belongings exposed in an unattended car is bait for thieves.
According to 8World News, a Singaporean driver learned this the hard way during his trip to Johor Bahru (JB) when his tablets were stolen from his car on 29 Oct.

Here’s what happened.
At around 7.35pm on Tuesday (29 Nov), a 43-year-old Singaporean man drove to JB in his BMW.
When he decided to have a meal at a seafood restaurant near ZhenLin Mountain, he parked his car at a nearby residential area, leaving two tablets in the car.

Little did he know, while he was enjoying the delicious JB food, a thief was taking the opportunity to break into his car.
Upon returning to his car after the meal, he was horrified to find that the left rear window of his car had been smashed in.
Along with that, the 2 tablets he had brought could not be found. Fearing a case of theft, he made a police report.
According to the police, although the car was parked near a residential area, the CCTV cameras in the vicinity could not capture the theft because it happened at night.
However, the Singaporean man was desperate to get his tablet back as it contained important data that he didn’t want getting into the wrong hands. To do that, he tried tracking the latest position of his tablet and found that it was last detected around the Skudai area.
Unfortunately, as of the time of writing, the police have not been able to identify the thieves.
According to the Johor police, the man is expected to lose about S$1,000 in total from the incident.
This incident is a reminder for drivers to always be careful when leaving your belongings in your car. If absolutely necessary, keep your belongings hidden, out of sight of passersby.
