Taylor Swift spotted leaving Koma restaurant in Marina Bay Sands

UPDATE (7 Mar, 5pm): An earlier version of this article wrote that the video surfaced on a TikTok account. MS News has since gotten in-touch with the original creator, Sho Takei, and credited him accordingly.

The original owner also clarified that the encounter was on 28 Feb and not 5 March, which was the day the video surfaced on TikTok, and provided his account of what happened.

The article has since been updated to reflect these changes.

Patrons at Koma in Marina Bay Sands were enjoying their meals when they spotted global superstar Taylor Swift dining at the same establishment on 28 Feb.

The 34-year-old singer is in Singapore for ‘The Eras Tour’, which is taking place at the National Stadium for six nights between 2 to 9 March.

Footage of Swift at the popular Japanese restaurant was recorded by Sho Takei, a co-founder of an international recruitment firm, who happened to be dining at the establishment the same night.

The video later surfaced on TikTok, and has since garnered more than 226,000 views at the time of writing.

The video, taken from a distance, showed the singer getting up from her seat at the restaurant.

At least six other people accompanied her as she began to make her way out.

She appeared to be sporting a strapless top and wore her hair in an up-do during her time at the establishment.

Upon noticing the person taking the video, a man from Swift’s entourage, presumably a bodyguard, shone a torchlight at the camera and motioned for the person to stop recording.

Singer was at Marina Bay Sands Japanese restaurant for more than 2 hours, says video owner

The owner of the now-viral video turns out to be 31-year-old Sho Takei, co-founder of a Japan-based international tech recruitment firm HYRE and former contestant of ‘The Apprentice: One Championship Edition Season 1’.

Speaking to MS News, Sho said that he was at Koma on 28 Feb at around 7.45pm.

Apparently, Swift was already at the restaurant when Sho arrived. However, he did not realise it was her at first, as her back was turned towards the other diners the entire time.

He only noticed something was out of the ordinary when he returned from the restroom and was momentarily stopped by two security guards.

“I explained to them that I just wanted to get back to my table, that was when I realised that it was Taylor Swift, that was around 8.30pm. I got back to my table and told my friends it was her, although I admit I could’ve been more subtle. That’s when some people around us started to murmur, ” he recounted.

Sho then took the video as she was leaving the restaurant at around 9.40pm.

He said that one of the bodyguards had approached his table and told him to not do so due to privacy reasons, but he argued that it is a public space.

The bodyguards did not do anything else and left when the singer departed.

Incident sparks debate on whether it’s right to record celebrities in public

TikTok users who came across the video seem to have mixed feelings towards the footage of the star’s night out.

Some users disagreed with the caption, saying that the bodyguard was just doing his job.
