‘Explosion’ Reportedly Took Place At Audi Service Centre On 7 Mar

UPDATE (7 Mar, 12.35pm): In a Facebook post on Tuesday (7 Mar) afternoon, the SCDF confirmed that an incident had occurred at 55 Ubi Road 1, the address for the Audi Service Centre. Roughly 100 people were evacuated and one person was taken to the hospital. You may read their full statement below.

An ‘explosion‘ reportedly took place at the Audi Service Centre in Ubi this morning (7 Mar).

The impact apparently blew apart a section of the building’s wall and scattered debris everywhere.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers were seen at the scene, though it’s unclear if there were any casualties.

‘Explosion’ leaves gaping hole in building wall

According to Lianhe Zaobao, an explosion occurred at the Audi Service Centre at 55 Ubi Road 1 at about 9am today (7 Mar).

The impact reportedly left a massive hole in the building’s facade, exposing what appears to be some piping as well as industrial equipment.

Pictures show debris strewn all over the ground. Citing readers’ accounts, Lianhe Zaobao added that some debris even flew over to the adjacent Oxley BizHub.

One person conveyed to the hospital

In a Facebook post later that same day, the SCDF confirmed that they received an alert at about 8.55am on Tuesday (7 Mar) morning.

Officers didn’t find a fire upon arrival at 55 Ubi Road 1 but saw that “a section of the wall at the side of a building had collapsed”.

 

Roughly 100 people had thankfully evacuated the building before the SCDF’s arrival. Besides one person who sustained “a fall in the vicinity”, the SCDF reported no other injuries. Paramedics conveyed the individual in question to Raffles Hospital.

The SCDF is investigating the incident, so no other information is available at the time of writing. MS News will update this article should more details emerge.
