If you frequently commute at Lavender MRT station or visit the adjacent ICA building, chances are, you must’ve seen Uncle Jimmy.
That’s right, he’s the ice-cream seller who has been stationed outside Lavender MRT for several years.
Come Sunday (22 Mar), Uncle Jimmy will be celebrating his 74th birthday. And like previous years, he gave out free ice cream to customers as part of his birthday celebrations.
According to the notice by the cart, the ‘free ice cream’ event was held from 1-6pm on Friday (20 Mar).
He was stationed at his usual spot — Exit A of Lavender MRT.
According to Uncle Jimmy, more than 800 free ice cream were handed out during the 5-hour period.
Uncle Jimmy’s 74th birthday is a rather special one.
According to his Facebook posts, it seems he hasn’t been selling ice cream for the past month in a bid to avoid large crowds.
Understandably, his eagerness to see his loyal customers again is nearly palpable in his latest Facebook post.
Customers who received the free ice-cream also reciprocated the love by thanking him on social media.
Kudos to Uncle Jimmy, who despite his old age, braved the heat so he could spread joy to others amid these trying times.
We wish him the best of health and happiness in the years to come.
Happy birthday Uncle Jimmy!
