Cooler weather in Singapore is a usually a fever dream for most Singaporeans. We all know how it feels to be delirious from the sticky humidity and scorching sun.
But dream no more, fellow Singaporeans. At least for the next 2 weeks of December.
The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) has announced that we can expect temperatures to dip to a low of 22°C, accompanied by thundery showers.
As our region enters the Northeast Monsoon season, daily temperatures will typically range from lows of 24°C, to highs of 32°C.
MSS predicts that on some days in December, temperatures will even hit extreme lows of 22-23°C — that’s frigid by Singapore’s standards.
To those patiently awaiting the perfect time to bust out the ugly Christmas H&M sweaters you only wear in your freezing office, this is definitely good news.
The cooler weather does come at a cost.
Your umbrellas will be worked hard as we’ll be welcoming at least 7 to 9 days worth of thundery afternoon showers in the next 2 weeks.
You may feel that it’s colder than 22°C, just like our winter spell this January, if wind chill occurs again.

We promise to avert our eyes politely if you need thicker clothing to function normally on the trains.
This monsoon spell will last till March 2019 if current meteorological conditions remain.
How does a wet Christmas and CNY sound? Splendid.
Because we can save on our aircon bills by simply opening our windows.
But no to ponding though, we absolutely hate that.
