Singapore has a reputation of being a safe nation where even the most expensive belongings will not get stolen even if you leave them unattended in public areas.
Well, one man seems eager to change that popular impression.
On Tuesday (22 Oct), a Singaporean lady by the name of Yvonne LaReina Lee took to Facebook in a bid to identify a man caught stealing her mother’s phone left unattended at a Yishun tailor.
She also threatened to lodge a police report if the thief does not return the phone within 48 hours.

According to the video description, the incident took place on Tuesday (22 Oct) at around 1.30pm at Yishun Chong Pang.
At the start of the video, a man wearing a black cap and jacket walks past the shop.
Something then caught the man’s eye, as he u-turns and carefully examines the shop.
The man presumably noticed that no one was tending the shop and helped himself to a tour of the premises, eventually finding a phone left charging on the table.
He then pretended to leave as a few passersby walked past the shop.
As they went on their way, the man walks into the shop again.
This time, he decides to throw caution to the wind as he brazenly removes the phone from the table, unplugging the charger in one swift motion.
The man then departed the shop with one glance back.
Ms Yvonne, the shop owner’s daughter, has since shared the CCTV footage on Facebook, hoping to identify the thief and have the phone returned to her elderly mother.
She also threatened to lodge a police report if the thief fails to return the phone within 48 hours.
We hope the thief come to his senses and returns the phone to its rightful owner or can most likely expect the police to come knocking on his doors soon.
Let this also serve as a lesson for everyone to not leave their belongings lying around unattended, because while Singapore is no doubt safe, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
