Black car believed to have skidded & stopped

The pile-up occurred at about 11pm on 9 May, at KM28 of the New Klang Valley Expressway heading towards the Duta Toll Plaza, the New Straits Times (NST) quoted the police as saying.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said a Proton Inspira driven by a 26-year-old Malaysian man, is believed to have skidded and come to a stop on the far-right lane.

A Proton Wira driven by a 40-year-old Indonesian man then crashed into the Proton Inspira, followed by a Toyota Hilux driven by a 41-year-old local man that also crashed into it.

Both vehicles then crashed into the road barrier on the left.

Driver under investigation for reckless & dangerous driving

While all three drivers were not injured in the accident, the Proton Wira and Toyota Hilux were damaged, said Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri.

Investigations are ongoing as to the Proton Inspira’s damage.

The Proton Inspira driver has been arrested to assist in police investigations, with the case being probed under Section 42(1) of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

In the course of the investigation, the police have obtained CCTV footage, recorded witness statements, conducted a site inspection and taken photos of the accident vehicles, he added.
