Two earthquakes measuring 6.1, 5.9, and 4.2 in magnitude struck different parts of Indonesia on Sunday (4 Oct).
Tremors were felt across several areas, although there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
According to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the first earthquake struck at about 5.55am (local time).
Its epicentre was located at sea, around 14km southwest of Kodi in Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, at a depth of 10km.
Strong shaking was reportedly felt in Southwest Sumba, West Sumba, and West Manggarai, with tremors also detected in East Sumba and Manggarai, Tempo reported.

Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said the tremors lasted for about a minute in some areas.
However, residents reportedly remained calm, and no casualties or damage were recorded in preliminary assessments.
Authorities also said the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat.
About 42 minutes later, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Aceh province at around 6.37am (local time).
BMKG said its epicentre was at sea, approximately 68km southwest of Calang, at a depth of 26km.

Tremors were felt across parts of Aceh, including Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar, West Aceh, South Aceh, Pidie Jaya, Bener Meriah, Nagan Raya, and Central Aceh.
At around 8.31am (local time), another quake measuring 4.2 in magnitude took place in Sukabumi, with its epicentre located 61km south of the regency.

The earthquake was reportedly felt in Pelabuhan Ratu, Cianjur, and Cidolog.
Authorities advised residents to stay alert for possible aftershocks and to avoid damaged buildings.
Those in affected areas were also urged to rely on information from official sources and avoid spreading unverified reports.
