The Land Transport Authority (LTA) highlighted the ongoing issue of indiscriminately parked or abandoned bicycles in a Facebook post on Thursday (5 Nov).
The agency said it has removed 303 bicycles from various parking areas since July 2026, in neighbourhoods such as Admiralty, Tampines, Aljunied, Yishun, and Sembawang.
They did this to “keep bicycle parking spaces available for those who need them”.

LTA urged cyclists who are unsure of where to park their bicycle to download the MyTransport.SG app.
They can use the app to identify nearby bicycle parking areas, including at shopping malls, and check if these allow parking by shared bicycles.
“Don’t let your bicycle overstay its welcome,” the agency reminded cyclists. “Park right, leave space for others.”

In response to LTA’s post, several netizens suggested that the agency donate unwanted bicycles to bike repair charities instead of disposing of them, giving them a new lease of life.

Some commenters also highlighted other key areas where abandoned bicycles posed an issue for pedestrians.
These reportedly include areas near MRT stations and void decks.
