Anchorvale Fire Destroys Family Home, Single Mum & 3 Kids Seek Donations

Anchorvale Fire Leaves Single Mum & 3 Kids With Nothing To Get Them Through Covid-19 Period

The economic impact of Covid-19 is already tough on those of us who still have our jobs, but imagine how much harder the needy have it.

A single mother and her 3 children were dealt the toughest blow on Friday (10 Apr) when a fire engulfed their Anchorvale HDB flat.

Left with nothing at all, the family received help from BURPIZ SG who took to Instagram to appeal for donations.

The entire flat suffered various degrees of damages, which spilled over to their upstairs neighbour’s unit.

Unfortunately for the family, they had to compensate for damages to their neighbour’s home as well.

Single mum & 3 young children already struggling to cope

The original post claims that the occupants of the unit are a single mum and her 3 young children, a 5-year-old and a pair of 8-year-old twins.

Already struggling to cope with Covid-19 impacts, the tragedy only adds to their burden.

Aware of their plight, folks from catering company BURPIZ SG posted an appeal for donations on their Instagram page.

They requested for kind souls to donate directly to the mum’s bank account or via PayNow as stated in the post.

Netizens in the comments section have confirmed their donations, expressed interest in offering further assistance, or simply conveyed their well wishes.

Sengkang MP Lam Pin Min visited family

Sengkang West SMC MP Lam Pim Min had visited the family shortly after the fire broke out on Friday (10 Apr).

He, along with several grassroots leaders had apparently offered assistance to the family, though how much that covers is unclear.

As to whether the Instagram appeal is legitimate, the single mum has taken to Facebook herself to confirm that it is.

She hopes that those who wish to help will no longer feel insecure about reaching out.

Help others in need in times of difficulty

We are all in difficult times right now, but many of us may be luckier than others.

Forking out a bit of money or taking some time to reach out to the less fortunate takes only a small amount of effort.

Let’s find the compassion in ourselves to help people in need, especially those in dire circumstances like this family.
