Food Deliveryman That Slashed Batman Bin Suparman Gets 2.5 Years’ Jail & 6 Strokes

Food Deliveryman Who Slashed Batman Bin Suparman Gets Jail & Caning

Superman by himself is invincible. But if you mix him with Batman, the result is a seeming loss of invincibility.

For one Singaporean, this exact name made a local man famous from an innocuous screenshot of his NRIC.

Sadly, for the 29-year-old Singaporean man named Batman bin Suparman – who went viral for his unorthodox name – he was pummelled and slashed by a fellow Foodpanda colleague, Mr Eng Guan Hong, after the 2 got into a disagreement in January.

The latter was charged and sentenced on Wednesday (14 Aug) to 2.5 years in jail and 6 strokes of the cane.

Argument started because of the word “bodoh”

The incident happened on 28 Jan 2019.

That morning, Foodpanda had announced a new scheme for their riders. Mr Eng sent a voice message to the group chat consisting of other riders that whoever did not sign up for the scheme would be “bodoh”, a term in Malay for “stupid”.

Mr Batman found the term offensive and told Mr Eng not to use it that way.

Mr Eng got angry, the 2 started arguing over text, where Mr Eng repeatedly challenged Mr Batman to a face-to-face meeting.

Slashed & punched Batman

The 2 met up that same afternoon at United House near Somerset. Unbeknownst to Mr Batman, Mr Eng was carrying a penknife, reports TODAY.

As soon as he saw Mr Batman, Mr Eng started swinging his helmet at the younger colleague, bruising him.

Just then, the penknife fell out of his pocket — whereupon he picked it up and slashed at Mr Batman.

As result, Mr Batman received cuts on his face – one on his nose bridge and another above his ear – as well as bruises from the punches.

Eventually, other colleagues stepped in to hold Mr Eng back and accompanied Mr Batman to the police station to make a report.

Never resort to violence

This advice has been repeated far too many times. But we’ll say it again anyway — don’t use violence to solve conflicts.

Sadly, when emotions get the better of people, they sometimes revert to baser instincts.

If you find yourself in a situation where you’re being antagonised, step away, look for help, and don’t try meet the aggressor with equal intimidation.
