For the first time since Phase 2 Heightened Alert started, Singapore reported no unlinked Covid-19 cases in the community yesterday (5 Jun).
More Singapore residents, however, continue to test positive. But authorities could swiftly trace them to curb transmission risks.
In its late-night update, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said a new Covid-19 cluster has formed in Atatcutz Singapore—a barber shop at 348 Bedok Road.
With 4 cases linked to it, the cluster now has 6 cases.
According to MOH, the 4 new cases are:
Case 64046: A 35-year-old male Malaysian who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut at Kampong Ubi Community Centre. He tested positive on 4 Jun.
Case 64048: A 46-year-old Singaporean, a manager at Workforce Singapore who has been working from home since April. She tested positive on 3 Jun. She’s received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on 18 May.
Case 64049: A 25-year-old Malaysian who works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore. He tested positive on 4 Jun.
Case 64057: A 27-year-old Malaysian who also works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore. He is asymptomatic and tested positive on 4 Jun.
All 4 cases are household contacts or workplace contacts of one another. They’ve been placed on quarantine on 1-2 Jun.
The first 2 cases that were picked up earlier are:
Case 63936: A 26-year-old Malaysian who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut in Hougang Green. He tested positive on 1 Jun.
Case 63969 is a 24-year-old Malaysian who works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore. He tested positive on 2 Jun.
Meanwhile, mandatory testing for residents at 828 visitors at Blocks 501 and 507 Hougang Ave 8 has ended.
The Straits Times reports that one person was confirmed with Covid-19.
Investigations are still ongoing to trace the source of transmission.
Community cases are still growing by the day. During Phase 2 Heightened Alert, it’s important to minimise our social contact by staying home as much as possible.
And even when you have to step out, remember to follow the rules. Wear a mask, practise good personal hygiene, and keep a safe distance from others.
