A customer who bought some food from a coffee shop in Punggol made an unsavoury discovery upon opening the takeaway container.
They discovered a blemish on the lid, which they believed to be dried “bird shit”.
Unsatisfied, the customer aired their concerns about the unsanitary standards of the stall.
In a post dated 27 Aug on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page, the Original Poster (OP) shared that they ordered food from a stall at 7 Stars Coffee Shop in 312A Sumang Link.

Although they claimed that the vendor’s attitude was “so rude”, they proceeded with the order.
However, the OP noticed something on the cover after opening the takeaway container.
They realised that the blemish was actually “shit”. The OP also observed that the container cover was dusty.

Photos attached to the post showed that the “bird shit” was on the inner cover of the plastic lid, facing the food.
“So can you imagine the food is hot and the moisture is kept and mixed inside,” wrote the OP.

At the end of the day, the OP could not eat the food and claims to have spent “S$20 for bird shit”.
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it is looking into the matter and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence is obtained.
Food safety is a joint responsibility and SFA reminds of food operators to ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.
Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.
