According to Ms Shariza, children with autism do not like cutting their hair due to sensory issues.

In the 1-minute clip on TikTok, the barber is seen entertaining the boy and patiently cutting his hair even as he moves around the barbershop.

The video has garnered over 700,000 views at the time of writing.

Although the barber eventually succeeded in his task, the process was far from easy. A clip in the video showed that Aisy had pushed Mr D away when he approached him with a comb.

In response, the barber had good-naturedly tickled the boy’s face before playing with him around the shop.

Ms Shariza also shared that Aisy accidentally hit and pulled at Mr D’s beard when he tried to cut his hair.

However, Mr D assured her that it was fine, understanding that the boy was stressed because he is not used to getting a haircut.

According to Ms Shariza, Aisy eventually stopped running away and allowed the barber to cut his hair.

Another clip showed the barber snipping away while the boy stood quietly in a corner.

Besides accommodating her son’s needs, Mr D also encouraged Ms Shariza to continue taking care of her “extraordinary child”.

The story moved many netizens who applauded Mr D for his kindness, and encouraged people who lived nearby to support his business.

One commenter, whose husband has patronised Mr D’s barbershop since childhood, said that he is “always the best”.

Meanwhile, other mums whose children have been diagnosed with autism shared their own experiences at barbershops.

Some said they have been refused at certain establishments because their child cannot sit still, while others shared that they have just resorted to doing haircuts at home.
