Boy was part of group that did not tap in when they entered Cove LRT

SBS Transit has made a police report after a boy was seen throwing a bag from the platform of Cove LRT station in Punggol on Sunday (27 Sept) night.

In footage posted by @sgfollowsall on Instagram, the boy is seen punching the bag with his fist before flinging it off the platform towards the tracks.

The short clip started with the grey plastic bag lying on the floor, apparently with an object inside.

The boy bent down and punched it twice with his right fist.

He then picked up the bag by its handle and flung it towards the tracks in one swift motion.

It could not be ascertained from the video where the bag had landed.

The last frame showed four boys pulling three styrofoam boxes across what appeared to be an HDB driveway.

SBS Transit makes police report

In response to queries from MS News, SBS spokesperson Grace Wu said the transport operator is aware of the incident at Cove LRT, which happened at about 11pm on Sunday (27 Sept).

SBS does “not take this lightly” as it is a matter of public safety.

Thus, it has lodged a police report, she noted, describing the case as an “act of mischief”.

4 boys did not tap in at fare gates

Mrs Wu also revealed that the boy was part of a group of five, according to CCTV footage.

Four of them did not tap in at the fare gates when they entered the station, she said, adding:

This constitutes fare evasion, which is an offence, and we are looking into the matter.
