Bus driver steps out onto road, angrily chases off cars blocking Second Link bus lane

When cars blocked the bus lane at the Second Link checkpoint in Johor, Malaysia, a furious bus driver stormed out onto the road and scolded them into giving way.

His dedication and no-nonsense attitude towards the rule-breaking drivers quickly won over both his passengers and netizens.

Footage of the rather amusing incident was shared by Singaporean Instagram user Jonathan Kang on 20 Aug.

“Wow, wow, wow, everyone take a look at our driver,” Mr Kang could be heard saying in the video.

He told MS News that the incident took place near the Malaysian customs side of the Second Link, as the bus was heading back to Singapore from Malacca after his group had gone on a cycling trip.

The video showed the bus driver storming down the road despite the heavy rain, with a pink neck pillow still sitting around his neck.

According to Mr Kang, many cars had been trying to cut the queue by using the bus lane, blocking the actual buses in the process.

The driver initially spent the first few hundred metres from the Malaysian customs honking at the cars, but to no avail.

“He got fed up and went down to lecture the drivers,” said Mr Kang.

Bus passengers applaud driver when he returns

Clearly in no mood to wait around any longer, the driver could be seen yelling and gesturing at the motorists, demanding that they move out of the way.

He continued making his way up the bus lane, getting the cars to drive off one by one.

His passengers were clearly impressed by the impromptu traffic enforcement, calling out “steady” and “very good”, while jokingly referring to him as a traffic policeman.

When the driver finally boarded the bus again, the passengers broke into applause and praise.

Mr Kang told MS News that everyone on board was amazed by the driver’s actions.

After a cut in the video, they spotted a Singapore-registered car behind them in the bus lane being stopped by a Malaysian police officer.

The motorist apparently had to hand over their passport, prompting the passengers to remark that they were “done for”.

The post went viral, garnering over 11,900 likes at press time, with netizens similarly impressed by the driver’s actions.

One said the driver clearly “meant business”, especially since he had marched out with the neck pillow still around him.

The same user also said it was embarrassing to see so many Singapore-registered cars occupying the bus lane.
