A Malaysian man and woman were arrested after more than 10kg of cannabis was found hidden in a motorcycle at Tuas Checkpoint.
The drugs were found under its seat and in a bag on the handlebar, said the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in a media release on Friday (18 Sept).

On Tuesday (15 Sept), the Malaysia-registered motorcycle attempted to enter Singapore via Tuas Checkpoint, ICA said.
However, ICA officers referred it for enhanced checks.
This was based on information received from ICA’s Integrated Targeting Centre.
During the inspection, four bundles were found underneath the motorcycle seat. They contained vegetable matter believed to be controlled drugs.
The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) was immediately alerted.
Further checks by CNB officers turned up six more bundles inside a black haversack on the motorcycle’s handlebar. They contained similar suspect matter.

Eventually, a total of about 10,164g of cannabis was found in the bundles, which were seized, ICA said.
The cannabis is estimated to be worth more than S$203,000.
That amount could potentially feed the addiction of about 1,450 abusers for a week, ICA noted.
A man, aged 36, and the woman, aged 35, were arrested for attempted drug smuggling.
ICA said it would continue to work with CNB to prevent drug smuggling attempts across Singapore’s borders.
It also pledged to continue security checks at the checkpoints to prevent the smuggling of undesirable persons, weapons, explosives and other contrabands.
Cannabis is a Class A controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973 (MDA).
Trafficking in a controlled drug, offering to do so, or any act or offer in preparation for or for the purpose of trafficking, is an offence under Section 5 of the MDA.
This applies whether the offender does so on their own behalf or on somebody else’s behalf, even if that other person is overseas.
Those convicted of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis may face the mandatory death penalty.
