Driver lies inside car unconscious after Hougang accident

An eyewitness named only as Mr Long (transliterated from Mandarin) told Shin Min Daily News that he was passing by when he saw the car flipped on its side.

Its driver was lying inside, unconscious.

The 29-year-old believed that the car had hit a traffic light before crashing into the road divider.

Another eyewitness, 60-year-old renovation contractor Madam Lin (transliterated from Mandarin), said she had heard a loud noise and a crowd gathering around the wrecked car.

She noted that the car was likely travelling at high speed as car parts were scattered over about 100m and the railings had been uprooted.

She then saw the driver in the car, bleeding from his head.

People knocked on the window, but he did not respond to their calls.

Thus, they waited for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to arrive.

After he was freed, he was placed on a stretcher and paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, according to a video he provided.

The car was towed away at about 8am.
