The corner terrace house is where home-based private dining business Liu Fu Si Fang Cai operates.

Owner was overseas, nobody at home during incident

Speaking to Lianhe Zaobao, the property owner Liu Hongli (transliterated from Mandarin) said he was overseas during the incident.

Mr Liu, who also runs the private dining business, said he was relieved that no one was at home when the incident occurred.

He was in fact informed about the accident by his neighbour across the street, who called him at about 11.28am.

The neighbour said that he had heard a loud bang and saw that a car had smashed through his neighbour’s wall.

Vehicle involved was rental car, family to make police report

Mr Liu’s 48-year-old younger brother and other family members promptly rushed to the scene when they received the news.

The head of an IT company told the Chinese daily that the car involved was a rental vehicle and it was towed away at about 2pm.

The driver, who was not injured in the accident, left the scene after that.

The family has obtained his personal details and will make a police report.

Residents affected by 2-hour power outage

The younger Mr Liu said that, as the car had hit an electrical box, nearby residents were affected by a power outage for about two hours.

As many as 20 workers were deployed to the site by SP Group to repair the damage, he estimated.

Local resident Huang Pengyu (transliterated from Mandarin) said his home suddenly lost power around 11.30am and he discovered that it was because of the accident.

The 28-year-old bank employee said TP arrived promptly after the accident, while SP Group came at about 12 noon.

Power to his home was restored at about 12.30pm, he added.

Car believed to have self-skidded

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 11.25am on 18 Oct.

It involved a car which was believed to have self-skidded along Tembeling Road.

No injuries were reported, but a 37-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
