Foreign man allegedly puts his chest hair in char kway teow to avoid paying S$9 at restaurant in Penang

Man puts chest hair in char kway teow to evade payment

Last Sunday (4 Oct), a Facebook user shared a video of a foreign man seemingly putting his chest hair on a plate of char kway teow.

He allegedly did this to avoid paying RM30 (S$9) at the restaurant in Georgetown, Penang.

The Original Poster (OP) claimed the couple said the food was poor quality, so they would not pay, and immediately left.

As such, they warned other business owners about the pair.

Plucked hair from his chest a few times

Based on the surveillance footage, the incident occurred at around 5.42pm on 4 Oct.

The video shows a man and a woman seated at a table, flipping through menu books.

Several plates were on their table, including a larger plate that appeared to contain a noodle dish.

As a restaurant staff member leaves the dining area, the man reaches under his shirt to seemingly pluck hair from his chest.

He then puts this on a small plate in front of him, before checking his work.

Dissatisfied, he repeats the process a few times, reaching into his shirt from below and from the neckline.

Meanwhile, the woman at the table appears to pay no attention to his actions and continues to flip through the menu.

Once satisfied with his work, the man stands up, takes the plate, and approaches a staff member.

Man refuses to pay due to ‘poor quality’ of food

According to Oriental Daily, the restaurant manager, Mr Zheng (transliterated from Chinese), said the couple ordered char kway teow, eggs, and a drink, which totalled about RM30.

A short while later, the man approached the staff complaining about hair in his noodles. The staff then handed the dish to the manager.

Mr Zheng grew suspicious as there were six to seven very short strands of hair on the plate that did not look like eyelashes.

He stressed that he and his staff were still investigating the dish when the couple began preparing to leave.

He then went up to them and reminded them that they hadn’t paid.

However, the man allegedly refused to settle the bill, saying the food was low quality, and left with the woman.

Believing something was amiss, Mr Zheng reviewed the CCTV footage and found out that the man had plucked hairs from his chest and put them on his plate.
