Resident allegedly urinates outside lift at Choa Chu Kang block despite having toilet at home

A resident at a Choa Chu Kang HDB block has allegedly been repeatedly urinating in the level two lift area despite having a toilet in his flat.

The complaint was posted on Complaint Singapore last Thursday (17 Sept), with the Facebook post claiming the latest incident happened on 16 Sept at around 7.40pm.

According to the Original Poster (OP), the man lives at Block 813A Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7.

They claimed that he “refuses to use” the toilet in his own home.

Instead, he urinates on the second floor, in the common area outside the lift.

In the post, the OP claimed the man committed the act on 16 Sept.

The resident said that it happened “again”, insinuating that it was repeated behaviour by the same man.

They alleged that the man had been using the level two area in front of the lift as a toilet.

The OP wrote that the man has a toilet in his own unit but allegedly chooses not to use it.

The claims have not been independently verified.

It is also unclear from the post whether the matter has been reported to the town council or relevant authorities.

Netizens suggest installing dummy CCTV, saying ‘a lot of people are doing it’

Several commenters responded to the post with suggestions on how residents could deal with the alleged behaviour.

One suggested installing a fake or dummy CCTV camera as a possible deterrent.

Some commenters also speculated about why the resident allegedly urinates in the common area.

One joked that he could be “saving on water to flush the toilet at home”.

Another commenter claimed that some people do this to avoid cleaning their own toilets.

Chua Chu Kang Town Council told MS News that they were notified of the case and “have stepped up cleaning efforts to keep the affected common area clean”.

The town council added that they have also “prominently displayed a notice at the affected spot and in the surrounding areas to deter such future occurrences”.

The notice states that offenders who urinate or defecate in public areas may be fined up to S$1,000, and repeat offenders can be fined up to S$5,000 for such acts.
